Technology Training Completed
WOW! I just completed the best summer PD I have had in a long time! There are so many apps on my IPAD now! It's a good thing that summer is here so that I can prepare all of this new technology for my classroom next school year! Guess what I have been working on this evening? Scan the code to find out! If you are not sure how to do it on your IPAD, leave a comment and I will tell you how!

Framing Robots
I have been looking everywhere for robot pictures or posters without any luck. So, I decided to make my own. I found these turquoise frames at Ikea and purchased a pack of robot scrapbooking paper. I added a few other little embellishments and well, here they are!

Pirate Plans
The teacher in me has been writing some sea chanteys, as I seem to be in pirate mode these days. These songs are part of my upcoming pack: "Pirate Quest for the Treasure Chest."
Moreover, When I am not teaching, I love creating paper bag albums in my scrapbooking spare time. So, I thought why not combine the best of both worlds and incorporate some paper bag albums into my teaching. Look at this adorable "My Pirate Adventure" book I have been working on. I am making it easy enough so that my first graders can make one! Love ribbons and tags! I'll post more details once these two products are completed. Am I the only teacher working on school stuff during the summer? I'd love to hear what you are working on! Also, I will be posting my first giveaway prize soon! Check back because you don't want to miss it! ~Tava

Rounding Up Robots!
What a great first official week off from school! While school is still fresh on the mind, I am already looking ahead to next school year! I know, it is summer break! However, you know how quickly the new school year approaches while enjoying these summer months. Look at some of the cute additions I found for my space themed classroom!
I purchased some new fabric for my bulletin boards. Did I mention that I am incorporating robots into my space theme? How adorable are these little robots!
How about this cute rug? It has all of the colors of our space theme, with turquoise being the main color. I can't wait to see how it all comes together next school year!
One of my parent volunteers made this "Unpaper Towel Space Roll" for me! How creative and perfect for our classroom!

Well, that is all for now. I guess I should go out and enjoy the summer sun while I can! ~Tava

Wrapping Up Another School Year!
This last week of school surely flew by! You'd think that after sixteen years of teaching, the last day of school wouldn't be emotional for me. Each year, however, it is the sweet little faces looking at me, knowing that today they will have their last lunch as first graders, their last time on the playground together with the friends in our class, and the last time that I will read a story to them as a class. Reflecting on how much they've grown in just one school year-it is truly amazing the knowledge and impact you can imprint on a child! Yes, lots of mixed emotions indeed. The tears started early today when some of my parent volunteers came in to our class and presented me with a special book, "The Many Ways We Love Mrs. Roberts...." The book was filled with handwritten quotes on vellum sheets, with pictures of each of my sweet students. Some of their words are as follows: "I love Mrs. Roberts most because she has the most beautiful heart and she is the nicest teacher," "Mrs. Roberts loves me because I'm a teacher, a child teacher just like her, (this sweet little girl plays school at home, role-plays the lessons from our actual school day-reminds me of myself when I was her age)" and "Mrs. Roberts loves me because I work hard." Yes, watery eyes through the reading of the entire book. How thoughtful of my students and families...a book to surely treasure. For my students, I filled their Reading Bags (they earned the iron-on badges by reading "AR" books)with a special note and other goodies.
I also included a DVD of pictures from the school year, set to music. You can't watch a movie without popcorn, so that was included, too!
Moreover, I was blessed with another great year with my first grade colleagues. Look at these cute Teacher Organizers I made for my teammates!
This one was created for my incredible ELL teaching partner.
